About the event
The Illuminarium is a lights show performed at the Landesmuseum right next to the main train station in Zurich. It usually takes place in the Winter from mid-November until the end of December. The front courtyard of the museum is free for all visitors at any time of the day. It offers a magical Winter landscape full of lights, music, and illumination as well as a variety of food, sweets and drinks including mulled wine and glowing cotton candy. There is also a Lights Palace presenting installations providing a cozy atmosphere to sit down and chat with friends. The bar offers glow-in-the-dark cocktails and drinks.
In the back of the courtyard, visitors can watch a 25 minute light show for which they need to buy a ticket costing 13.50 CHF for adults, 8.50 CHF for teenagers and 5.50 CHF for children. It includes projections and installations for the children, showing the mythical cyclops Yuki and her friends traveling to faraway planets. The show can be viewed from 5 o’clock in the afternoon until 10 o’clock in the evening.
